Local people, local beer, local ingredients.

At 1820 BrewWerks, we’re all about Putnam County. After playing around with a home brewery for a little over a decade, we realized our hometown was missing something. Our own local brewery! So, we took the challenge upon ourselves to bring our little hobby to the big leagues.

We are serious about being local and try to source as many of our ingredients as we can from right here in Putnam County. We have partnered with Barley 5 for our grain. They’re located out of Columbus Grove and will harvest, malt, and roast the grain. We’re super excited for the Winter Barley which is unique to them. And, for the hops, we’re bringing them in from Frogtown in Glandorf.

We’re super excited to partner with local farms like Pandora Blackberries, Kaufman Hydroponics, and Knueven Creamery to bring delicious flavors and food to the brewery. You’ll have to check us out as the seasons change to see what special flavors we’ve experimented with!

Psst … Did you catch the meaning behind our name?

1820 is when our fair county was founded. We’ve named ourselves after that important date in our county’s history. Speaking of history, we’re located in a historically significant building as well. Built in 1903 by the Freemasons, the building was leased in perpetuity to F. G. Lee. The Freemasons Lodge was located upstairs.
